“It’s not only Africa that inspires me, I love the varied beauty of Great Britain too. One of the reasons I love where I live so much (South West England) is the rugged coasts, the rolling green hills, the rivers and the open moorlands. Dartmoor is a particular favourite of mine, and love spending days roaming the hills with their granite tors, steep valleys and the ever changing light. The weather can provide a challenge for any artist but sketching and taking photos on location really opens your eyes to the intricate beauty all around. Moss covered oaks, dripping with old man’s beard, a backlit young fern leaf uncurling after the rain, these are the kind of details that an artist will see while others rush by.
